According to Article 12 of Regulation (EU) 2025/40, a new QR label (DigiDot) will be available for product packaging.
DigiDot is a new digital QR label that will appear on product packaging. It will provide consumers with instructions on how to correctly sort and dispose of packaging, depending on their location. Consumers will be able to access these instructions by scanning the QR code, without needing to install an app.
DigiDot – Two Options
DigiDot is available in two versions: the Basic Version and the Product Version.
Both versions provide end users with information on how to correctly sort and dispose of each individual packaging component. The information may be general, based on the type of packaging, or specific to an individual product.
1. Basic Version (Free)
With the Basic Version of DigiDot, users scan the QR code to access the sorting guide. There, they can view general disposal instructions or manually search for packaging examples to find more specific information on how to sort them correctly.
2. Product Version (Paid)
With the Product Version of DigiDot, users are directly directed to information about the specific product after scanning the QR code. This allows them to receive tailored information and instructions on how to correctly dispose of the packaging of the product they have just scanned.
